Sterling College Choir Concert March 12

Sterling College Choir Concert

Sunday, March 12, 2017—7:00pm

Sterling College is a Christ-centered, four-year college located in Sterling, Kansas, with a mission to develop creative and thoughtful leaders who understand a maturing Christian faith.

The music department at Sterling College is establishing a foundation for lifelong growth in music, and offering programs and degrees that are tradition-based and future-oriented. We are home to singers and instrumentalists who seek to demonstrate God’s love through music.

The Highland Singers, a 20 voice mixed choir, is a select ensemble from students in the Sterling College Choir. They represent the college throughout the academic year by performing at schools, churches, and on-campus functions. The vocal group will also connect with audiences from six different states, singing and ministering in churches and schools during their Spring Break tour to California and back.
The group shares their music with energy and a genuine expression of the text. Their performances are joyful and engaging. The choir will sing a variety of selections including classical sacred, spirituals, hymns, contemporary choral anthems, and exciting arrangements of current worship songs. The group is under the direction of Marisa Callan, assistant professor of music at Sterling College, and accompanied on piano by staff member Joan Ehresman and on percussion by staff member Brett Callan.

The group will be on tour from March 10, through March 19, performing in Miltonvale, Kansas; Denver, Colorado; Grand Junction, Colorado; Henderson, Nevada; Corona, California; Norco, California; Temecula, California; Phoenix, Arizona; and Albuquerque, New Mexico.

A TRUE STORY OF FAITH AND PERSECUTION

Is Jesus Worth It?

How does faith survive, let alone flourish in the places of the world that are overcome with the darkness of sin, despair, and hopelessness? Join the Ripken’s as they tell the story of being taught by believers in persecution “how to follow Jesus, how to love Jesus, and how to walk with him day by day even when it doesn’t make sense.”

Come see The Insanity of God on Wednesday, November 9 at 6 PM. A time of discussion and prayer will follow the movie. Childcare provided.
